Map codes for W222, 217, 205, 447, 470, 190, and W/X253 pre-facelift (2014-2018), the head unit many owners call plain NTG5
NTG5*2 is the second version of the NTG5 series, and many owners call it plain NTG5. Codes for it are generated the moment you submit your VIN.
Use this page if your NTG5*2 car asks for a Map License Key, Navi PIN, Activation Code, or PIN code during a USB map update. It covers W222, W217, W205, W447, W470 and R190 cars from 2014 to 2018. Mercedes W/X253 GLC models use NTG5*2 before the facelift; facelift W/X253 models use NTG6.

How to identify NTG5*2
Go by chassis and build year first. NTG5*2 is the 2014 to 2018 head unit in W222, W217, W205, W447, W470, R190 and pre-facelift W/X253 cars. The same W205 built from 2017 on carries NTG5.5, and a facelift W/X253 carries NTG6.

NTG5*2 region compatibility for imported cars
NTG5*2 head units are region-locked at the factory. If your car's region is Korea, Southeast Asia, Japan, or China, imports from those countries included, it will not accept a map from another region such as Africa / Middle East or Europe. The code makes no difference to that.
Before you buy, do one of these:
- Change your head unit's region first by finding a service online, or
- Replace the head unit entirely
You can still order the code before that work is done. Checkout adds a €50 non-refundable handling fee for a car from Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, China, or Taiwan buying a foreign-region map, and the map still won't install until the head unit is changed. We don't refund codes bought against this warning. We show the same warning in the code generation dialog.
NTG5*2 common problems
USB stick is not valid, even though it is correct
This is likely a region error, and it happens with Korean, Japanese, Southeast Asian, and Chinese cars, imports included. If you are unsure of your car region, use our Car Lookup to verify it.
