Mercedes Coding Guide

Mercedes-Benz vehicle coding and feature unlocks, to factory standard. AMG menus, full LED, ambient tiers, MBUX extras, region conversion. Switched on the way your car was built to run them.

Your Mercedes shipped with more hardware than Mercedes lets you use. Multibeam headlights with the matrix layer switched off. Ambient lighting with half the zones disabled. An AMG performance screen sitting in a non-AMG cluster, waiting for someone to flip a bit.

Mercedes coding is how we flip those bits. No modification, no unofficial flashes. Just the activation flags Mercedes left switched off in the factory build.

What we unlock

A short list of what customers ask for most. None of this is modification. Every feature is factory-fitted and already in the car.

  • AMG menus on non-AMG cars. G-meter, oil and turbo readouts. Works on W223, W206, X254, EQE, EQS whenever the cluster supports it.
  • Full LED and Digital Light (ILS+ / IHC+). Enable the matrix and projection layer on Multibeam headlights you already paid for.
  • Ambient lighting tiers. Extra zones, extra modes, the 64-colour pack.
  • CarPlay and Android Auto. One coding change. No more cable.
  • MBUX extras. AR navigation, richer smartphone integration, rear-seat entertainment where the screens are fitted.
  • Comfort kit. Seat and steering memory, soft-close doors, auto-close, one-touch open and close.
  • Driver assistance tiers. Distronic extensions, lane-change assist, blind-spot activation.
  • Cluster and display badging. AMG, 4MATIC, model-specific logos you want on start-up.
  • Regional conversions. US, JP, CN, or GCC vehicles to EU spec (or back) where the law allows. Cluster units, headlight beam pattern, DRL, side markers, ambient zones, MBUX languages, navigation map region. See the region conversion guide for the full punch list.
  • Post-swap coding. After a module replacement, gateway swap, or ECU transfer.

Seen something on another Mercedes and wondering whether yours has it? Ask. Most factory-fitted features turn on.

How it works

  1. Send your VIN first with a short note on what you want unlocked.
  2. We check feasibility against your SA codes, fitted hardware, head-unit generation, and region. If something's impossible on your car, you know before anyone pays.
  3. Fixed quote. No hourly surprises. AMG menus from €150, ambient upgrades from €100, full LED from €200, by chassis.
  4. Remote session. We connect into your laptop, you watch every step. 30 to 90 minutes typical.
  5. You verify, then you pay. Doesn't work, no charge.

DIY or done-for-you

Most coding jobs are doable for an owner with a Windows laptop, 60 minutes, and a cable. The guides in this section walk through the setup end-to-end. What you need:

  • A compatible OBD cable. The VCI guide tells you which one from your VIN.
  • A Windows 10 or 11 laptop. Don't run MB tools in a VM if you can avoid it.
  • Patience for the first driver install. It gets faster every time after.

Deeper jobs (AMG menu unlocks on newer chassis, regional conversions, gateway-level work) are where remote sessions earn their keep. If you'd rather not learn the Mercedes coding toolchain for one feature, we run it for you and you spend the afternoon driving.

Is my car supported?

We cover every Mercedes from NTG4.5 (2011 onwards) through the latest Gen20x / Zero-Layer cars. Older generations - NTG2, NTG3, early NTG4 - we handle case by case.

The interface you need depends entirely on the generation: CAN bus on the older cars, DoIP over Ethernet on MBUX Gen 2 and newer. Paste your VIN and we'll pick the right cable for you.
