Gen20x Map Code

Gen20x is the head unit that starts the Zero Layer UI generation of the MBUX series for Mercedes-Benz, first released in 2024. We generate Gen20x codes for every map region and version we list, on any car whose head unit is already set to the region you are buying for.

Use this page if your Gen20x / Zero Layer MBUX car asks for a Map License Key, Navi PIN, Activation Code, or PIN code during a map update. Common models are W174 and W178, the newest CLA generations, plus W236, W244, W254, the W214 E-Class, the W206 C-Class built from 2024 on, and the W223 S-Class from 2026 on.

How to identify Gen20x

Start with the model year. Gen20x arrived in 2024, so an older car is almost always NTG7 or earlier even if the screen looks similar. The interface is the Zero Layer layout Mercedes introduced with this generation.

Gen20x region compatibility for imported cars

Gen20x head units are region-locked at the factory. A car whose region is Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, or China, imports included, will not accept a map from another region until the head unit's region is changed. Use our Car Lookup to read your car's region off the data card.

You can still order the code before that work is done. Checkout adds a €50 non-refundable handling fee for a car from Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, China, or Taiwan buying a foreign-region map, and the map still won't install until a service changes the head unit region. Gen20x common problems

USB stick is not valid, even though it is correct

This is a region error. It happens with Korean, Japanese, Southeast Asian, and Chinese cars, imports included. If you are unsure of your car region, use our Car Lookup to verify it.
