Guides for Mercedes owners
Guides for Mercedes owners: map updates and activation codes, VIN lookup, vehicle coding, and bulk codes for workshops.
Most owners arrive here because their Mercedes asked for a Map License Key during a navigation update. The four pages below take that job from your VIN to the code the car wants, and the rest of the guides cover what else you can do with a VIN.
Update your Mercedes navigation map
Work through these four guides in order. The last one generates the code.
- Find your VIN. It's the 17-character number on the windshield, the door jamb, and your vehicle documents.
- Identify your NTG generation. NTG is the name of your car's infotainment system, anything from NTG3.5 to Gen20x.
- Make the USB with DLM. DLM is the official Mercedes Download Manager, and it runs on Windows.
- Generate your map code when the car prompts for a Map License Key. The code is matched to your VIN, map version, and region.
Other jobs these guides cover
- Car lookup reads the datacard behind a VIN, including SA option codes, equipment, NTG generation, and service history where available.
- Vehicle coding switches on factory features your car shipped with disabled, and covers region conversion for imports, US to EU and back.
- Bulk map codes are for workshops and dealers, where 10 codes cost the price of 8.
- Professional adds API access, invoicing, and priority support. See the professional pricing page, or ask about partnering with us.
