NTG3.5 Map Code

This Head Unit is the oldest version that supports map updates through a USB stick and a license key.

How to identify NTG3.5

One of the easiest ways to identify whether your car is NTG3.5 is to use our Car Lookup feature.

Region Compatibility

Important Notice for Korea, Southeast Asia, and Japan Vehicles

If your car has a region of Korea, Southeast Asia, or Japan (including imports from these Asian countries), and you want to migrate to a navigation from a different region (such as Africa/Middle East or Europe), you cannot use our service — the update will not work.

Before purchasing a map code, you must:

  • Change your head unit's region first by finding a service online, or
  • Replace the head unit entirely

Refunds will not be granted for region incompatibility issues if you proceed without addressing the region change first. We provide clear warnings in our code generation dialog and guide pages about this limitation.

How to download the map update files

Compared to other NTG versions, NTG3.5 is not available on the Mercedes Download Manager (DLM). You will need to manually download the map update files using these reuploaded links below:

PLEASE MAKE SURE: The USB format is FAT32, you can read more about the correct format here.

USB formatting (FAT32)

  • Requirement: USB must be formatted as FAT32 for NTG 4.5 units to accept the update.
  • If Windows will not let you format large USB drives as FAT32, use the GUIFormat utility.
    • Download GUIFormat: http://ridgecrop.co.uk/guiformat.exe
    • Open the tool, select your USB drive, set Allocation Unit Size to 32768 (32K), leave Volume Label optional, and click Start.

Below is an example configuration for GUIFormat:

Inserting the files into the USB

Each map package contains multiple numbered folders (USB1, USB2, etc), where you need to extract each file into a separate USB drive. In the main root folder

Therefore you will have multiple USB drives each with the respective section of the map update package, please make sure you keep track of the order of the USB drives.

Start by plugging in the first USB into the car, and begin the update, following the instructions the car asks you to do.

If the car refers to the software update as being through a DVD, just follow the instructions but with the respective USBs required.
