NTG5.5 is the final COMAND of the NTG5 series, fitted from 2017 until MBUX took over. Codes for it are generated the moment you submit your VIN.

Use this page if your NTG5.5 car asks for a **Map License Key**, **Navi PIN**, **Activation Code**, or **PIN code** during a USB map update. Common models include W213 E-Class, W205 C-Class facelift, W222 S-Class facelift, C257 CLS, and W463 G-Class.

## How to identify NTG5.5

Go by chassis and build year first. NTG5.5 covers W205, C257, W222, W217, X290 and W463 built 2018 to 2021, plus W213 and W238 pre-facelift built 2017 to 2020. A W213 built from 2020 on is NTG6, not NTG5.5.

## Generate your NTG5.5 map code

Create your USB first, then use the form below. Our [map update guide](/guides/map-code) covers the whole process if you haven't made the USB yet.

Enter your VIN in the map-code flow to confirm the compatible navigation system, region, and version.

## NTG5.5 region compatibility for imported cars

NTG5.5 head units are region-locked at the factory. If your car's region is **Korea, Southeast Asia, Japan, or China**, imports from those countries included, it will not accept a map from another region such as Africa / Middle East or Europe. The code makes no difference to that.

Before you buy, do one of these:

* Change your head unit's region first by finding a service online, or
* Replace the head unit entirely

You can still order the code before that work is done. Checkout adds a €50 non-refundable handling fee for a car from Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, China, or Taiwan buying a foreign-region map, and the map still won't install until the head unit is changed. We don't refund codes bought against this warning. We show the same warning in the code generation dialog.

## NTG5.5 common problems

### USB stick is not valid, even though it is correct

This is likely a region error, and it happens with Korean, Japanese, Southeast Asian, and Chinese cars, imports included. If you are unsure of your car region, use our [Car Lookup](/guides/car-lookup) to verify it.

### Installation was unsuccessful

Some large map-version jumps require a separate ERASE code before installing the new map. Check the order page for availability and current pricing.
